1. Introduction

NanoEnteck is a company in South Korea holding a key technology called 'lab-on-a-chip' that combines micro-electro mechanical systems (MEMS) and microfluidics. Microchannels on microfluidic chips made of plastic or glass are designed to adjust and control the flow of biofluids to perform various analysis in a short time with a very small amount of samples and to analyze biological test results.
Very few global companies have successfully commercialized and mass-produced using the lab-on-a-chip technology.

2. Vision & Values

NanoEntek possesses a key piece of bio-MEMS technology which is heralded as the most advanced technology in the 21st century.
To realize this technology, NanoEntek’s operation encompasses R&D, production, sales of life-science lab equipment, in-vitro diagnostic medical devices, and related consumables and solutions. NanoEntek has about 100 patents associated with NT-IT-BT (nanotechnology-information technology-biotechnology) convergence technology in Korea and abroad. Particularly, we own lab-on-a-chip technology that integrates laboratory processes on a fingernail-sized microfluidic chip, making significant contributions to the fields of medical and life science engineering.

3. History

In 2000
NanoEntek was first established as Digital Bio Technology.

In 2006
After 6 years of development and rapid growth, NanoEntek was listed on KOSDAQ.

In 2007
US corporate entity and Hwaseong factory were build.

In 2009
NanoEntek sold patents to a US company called Life Technologies (USD 13M).

In 2010
NanoEntek received the “USD 5 Million Export Prize” presented by Korea International Trade Association and
the “IR52 JangYoungShil Award” for Countess.

In 2011
a strategic partnership with SK Telecom was established.

In 2012
a residual leukocyte counter ADAM rWBC was approved by USFDA.

In 2013
NanoEntek received the “USD 10 Million Export Prize” presented by Korea International Trade Association
and the “IR52 JangYoungShil Award” for ADAM-rWBC. Additionally, FRENDTM PSA was approved by USFDA.

In 2014
FRENDTM TSH was approved by USFDA and SK Telecom became the major shareholder.

In 2015
M&A took place with BioFocus Co., Ltd.

In 2016
FRENDTM Testosterone and FRENDTM Free T4 were approved by USFDA.

In 2017
NanoEntek signed a contract to transfer production technology to a Chinese corporation called NewScen.
Also, FRENDTM Vitamin D was approved by USFDA. NanoEntek took another big step by becoming an affiliate of SK Group.

In 2018
NanoEntek received the “USD 20 Million Export Prize” presented by Korea International Trade Association and acquired MDSAP certification. A China corporate entity was established this year.

In 2019
ADAMII-CD34 was FDA 510(k) cleared and signed an ODM supply contract for JuLI Stage with PerkinElmer.

In 2020
ADAM-rWBC HT FDA 510(k) was cleared.
Also, FRENDTM COVID-19 Total Ab received USFDA EUA and FRENDTM COVID-19 Ag received MFDS and CE.

In 2021
new production line for FRENDTM KIT in Hwaseong factory was expanded. FRENDTM COVID-19 Neutralization Ab
and FRENDTM COVID-19 SP received CE.
Meanwhile, SK Square CO.,LTD. Became the largest shareholder.
NanoEntek was awarded the “USD 30 Million Export Prize” presented by Korea International Trade Association.

4. Technology

Lab-on-a-chip platform
NanoEntek's key technology - 'lab-on-a-chip' - combines microelectromechanical system (MEMS) and microfluidics which is designed to perform various analysis and analyze biological test results in short amount of time by using small volume of sample.
1. Bio-MEMS
A. By applying MEMS used in semiconductor process to biomedical applications, NanoEntek continues to develop and commercialize various microfluidic chips for cell counting, gene transfection and in-vitro diagnostics products.
2. Microfluidics
A. NanoEntek utilizes the driving force for fluid movement caused by the reduction of channel and structure size from macro scale to micro scale to perform previse control of different biofluids.
3. Surface treatment
A. NanoEntek is capable of performing special processing with the use of plasma for smooth attachment and reaction of biological material on the surface of microfluidic chips.
4. Plastic injection molding
A. NanoEntek carries micro-injection molding machines that transfer micrometer patterns and channels designed based on Bio-MEMS and microfluidic plastic onto microfluidic chips for mass production.
