1. 개요
조반자동차도(조반도, E6)의 나들목(10번)이다. 나들목 명칭은 소재지명인 나카시[1]에서 유래하였다.개통 당시에는 나카시 및 현재의 히타치나카시가 된 카츠타시 및 나카미나토시, 도카이무라 등과의 접속 목적으로 설치된 나들목이었다. 비록 현재는 히타치나카시에 6번 국도 히가시미토도로 등이 들어서게 되었고, 도카이무라에도 도카이PA에 SIC가 병설되었지만, 현재도 도로 네트워크상 히타치나카시 북부의 산업단지 일대에서 나카IC로의 교통량이 꽤 있는 편이며, 도카이무라에서 ETC 미장착 차량 등은 여전히 이 나들목을 사용하게 된다.
고속도로 본선과는 전형적인 트럼펫형 나들목으로 되어 있다. 외부 접속부는 형태가 좀 특이한 편인데, 반입체화 구조로 65번 이바라키현도의 이다(기점) 방향과는 직결 램프로 입체화되어 있으나, 반대방향인 코노스(종점) 방향으로는 평면교차 형태로 접속된다. 직결 램프 방향의 입체화는 이바라키현 나카광역농도(버드라인)과 접속되기 때문에 진행되었다. 이 도로가 간선도로처럼 일대 지역을 동서를 가로지르고 있고, 동쪽으로는 히타치나카시 방향의 169번 이바라키현도를 통해 히타치나카시도인 산교도로(산업도로)와 연결되기 때문에 교통량이 많을 것으로 예상[2]되었기 때문이다.
