《The Alchemist》의 찬란한 서막을 여는 ‘닻(Anchor)’은 잔잔한 피아노로 시작해 웅장한 드럼·첼로와 함께 폭발하듯 펼쳐지는 강렬한 멜로디가 인상적인 발라드 곡이다. 니켈하르파, 허디거디 등 북유럽 등지에서 사용하는 이국적인 스케일의 전통악기로 완성된 편곡은 마치 폭풍이 몰아치는 바다를 항해하는 뱃노래를 연상시킨다. 서정적인 가사와 라포엠 특유의 처연하면서도 웅장한 보컬로 이루어진 이 곡은 폭풍우 같은 시련 중에도 꺼지지 않는 불빛처럼 곁을 지켜주는 존재들에게 고마움을 표하는 노래이다.

데뷔 이후 처음으로 발매된 선공개 싱글이다.

이 곡은 작곡가 브라더수가 2022 LA POEM SYMPHONY 관람 후 영감을 얻어 완성했다. ~~라포엠이 거대한 배의 선장 같았다.~~

Artwork과 음반커버는 《THE WAR》에 이어 독일의 미디어 아티스트 Timo Helgert가 맡았다.

닻(Anchor)의 Artwork는 흰 돛을 펼치고 새로운 항해를 시작한 범선과 구름 사이를 뚫고 나오는 햇빛이 웅장하면서도 희망적인 분위기를 선사한다.[2]

2월 28일 최화정의 파워타임에서 유채훈은 닻(Anchor)을 녹음하면서 힘들었던 점에 대해 "저희가 부른 것 중에 가장 힘을 뺐는데 웅장하다고 느끼더라. 녹음하면서 힘든 점은 없었고 자신 있게 부른 곡이다"라고 말했다.
