익스페리멘탈 힙합 기반으로 다양한 샘플을 마치 콜라주 하듯이 변형하여 이어붙인 "사운드 콜라주" 라고 불리는 장르의 음반이다. 각 트랙의 이름과 더불어 몇몇 트랙명 뒤에는 "see page" 라는 어구를 붙여 상당히 난해한 느낌을 주는데, 이는 앨범명에서도 나와 있듯 "Crater Speak" 이라는 실제 책의 각 페이지의 내용을 인용하는 것이다.[1][2]여담으로, 이 앨범과 깊은 연관성을 가진 책 Crator Speak은 미드웨이 컨템포러리 아트에서 "A star like any other" 라는 이름으로 열린 전시회를 기념하여 출판된 작품으로, 이 전시회 또한 슬라우슨 말론 본인이 주최한 전시회이다.
