I.M이 자신의 세 번째 EP [Off The Beat]를 발매했다. 작년 본격적인 솔로 활동의 포부를 드러내며 발매했던 앨범인 [OVERDRIVE]와 마찬가지로 6곡을 통해 I.M의 음악적 세계관을 전한다. 이번 앨범 역시 자신의 음악적 역량을 유감없이 발휘하며 전곡 프로듀싱으로 트랙마다 개성 넘치는 이야기를 담는 데 소홀하지 않았다. 음악을 기반으로 전체를 관통하는 콘셉트를 함께 녹여낸 앨범 구성의 완성도 역시 돋보인다.
‘LURE’는 사전적 정의로 ‘유혹’과 ‘미끼’라는 뜻으로 우리에게 이미 익숙한 단어다. 무언가의 마음을 끌어당기는 ‘유혹’의 행위는 대상을 꾀어냄과 상관없이 그 목적은 오직 자신만이 알고 있다. ‘미끼’로 누군가의 호기심을 자극하다 종국에는 기대 심리를 배반하는 속임수를 뜻하는 일종의 맥거핀 또한 내포한다. 이번 앨범 역시 일상 속에서 스쳐 지나가는 산뜻함과 불안함, 누군가에 대한 미움과 그리움 등 우리들의 감정을 ‘LURE’라는 극적인 ‘유혹’과 ‘미끼’를 이용하여 전달하고 있다. 모든 과정을 거치고 결국 마주하는 건 자기 자신이다.
