2025년 9월 17일 프로젝트가 처음 공개되었고 2026년 1월 22일 티저 홈페이지가 열렸으며, 2026년 1월 30일 공식 방송에서 게임 상세 정보와 플레이 영상이 공개되었다. 식스타 게이트 IP 확장을 위해 전 개발 인원이 투입되어 개발 중이라고 한다.

발매 당일 Play 스토어와 앱 스토어 모두 제 시간에 심사가 통과되지 않아 출시가 24일까지 지연되었고, 그 와중에 24일 12시에 열려야 되는 서버가 버그로 인해 00시에 열리거나 정식 오픈 직전 긴급 점검으로 또 2시간이 밀리는 상황까지 벌어져 시작부터 불안한 모습을 보였다. 심지어 앱 스토어는 페이지 조차 존재하지 않다가, 23일이 되서야 페이지가 생겼다.

이후 출시된 게임 역시 좋은 평가를 받지 못 하고 있다. 최적화가 제대로 진행되지 않은 탓인지 기종 불문하고 발열 이슈가 여러 곳에서 나왔고, 리듬 RPG를 표방했던 것 치고는 그 게임성도 제대로 살리지 못 했다.[4] 원화가 상업적 목적으로 그린 것이라기엔 퀄리티가 너무 떨어지는 것도 수집형 게임으로선 치명적이다. 설정과 시나리오가 유치해서 몰입이 어렵다는 불만도 많다. 이외에도 수많은 버그가 터졌으며, 그 중에는 게임 진행조차 제대로 되지 않는 경우도 있었다.

사실 출시 전부터 유니버스의 개발로 인해 본편이라 불렸던 스타트레일과 스타게이저의 업데이트 주기가 느려지는 문제점이 있었다. 거기에 다른 신작인 인피니스타의 발표와 동시에 스타트레일 레거시화를 발표하면서 해당 게임에 대한 인식이 안 좋아진 상황이었는데, 유니버스는 여러 문제점으로 인해 출시 2주일만에 유저수가 60명 대까지 추락하는 등 부정적인 인식을 뒤집기 힘들었다. 오히려 스타트레일과 스타게이저를 제쳐두고 전 개발진을 투입한 결과가 결과인지라 평가가 더욱 부정적이다. 결국 출시 이후 2달 가까이 지난 2026년 4월 중순을 기점으로 유저수가 20명 대까지 떨어지며 흥행에 실패했고, 식스타 게이트 IP의 신뢰도는 완전히 추락하고 말았다. 사실상 식스타 게이트에 사형선고를 내린 게임이 되어버린 셈이다.

게다가 오픈 시점에 진행했던 리뷰 이벤트가 구글 플레이 스토어의 정책을 위반한다는 의견도 나오고 있다.#[5] 이로 인해 시장 조사조차 제대로 안 한 게 아니냐는 비판을 받았다.
