1. 개요

최대의 전쟁 게임 시뮬레이터의 왕이었던, 워맨은 큰 댓가를 치르는 게임에서 인간 경쟁자에 맞서 싸우는 로봇이었다. 인간들은 로봇을 직접 만들어 로봇끼리 겨루는 도전을 할 수 있었지만, 그들은 종종 단순히 자신들의 명성을 위해 워맨과 싸우는 것을 선택했다. 그러나 워맨이 계속해서 승리를 거두자, 인간들은 워맨과 그의 창조자를 부정 행위를 저질렀다며 비난하기 시작했다. 악의적인 행위를 하지 않았다는 조사결과가 증명되었음에도 불구하고, 불만이 폭주한 인간들은 도전을 거부하게 되고 회사는 결국 폐업하고 말았다. IC 칩을 제거하기 직전 워맨은 마지막 말을 남기길: "오늘의 나는, 무의미한 챔피언으로 죽게 된다. 언젠가, 나는 다시 돌아와 가치있는 도전자를 만나게 될 것이다."[1]

록맨 시리즈의 팬게임 메가맨 록 포스의 퓨전 보스 중 한 명.

처음의 8보스에는 포함되지 않지만, 모든 메인 8보스를 클리어할 때 스테이지 선택창상 대각선에 위치한 보스(크립트맨, 바이러스맨, 쇼크맨, 셔레이드맨)를 마지막으로 클리어하면 퓨즈맨(포트레이트 위치 동일)과 쇼크맨이 합체하여 재조립된다.[2]

워맨은 한손검과 방패를 들고 멋진 수염까지 기른 중세 기사 형태의 로봇이다. 십자가가 돋아있는 투구와 십자가가 그려진 방패로 보아 십자군을 모티브로 한 듯. 배경 뒷편의 옥좌에 앉아있다가 튀어올라 등장한다.

2.1. 스테이지

스테이지 BGM

포대로 둘러싸인 성으로 이루어진 워맨 스테이지는 두 가지의 기믹으로 이루어져 있는데, 하늘색 점빅을 적의 공격[3]으로부터 지키면서 하늘색 발판까지 옮기는 것과 일정 시간마다 비행기 형태의 졸개가 스테이지 전체에 폭격을 가할 때마다 발판 밑으로 가서 피하는 것이다. 또한 주황색 컬러링의 돌아온 점빅과 스나이퍼 죠가 상당히 많이 나오는데, 방패를 든 녀석은 물론 방패를 들지 않은 스나이퍼 죠에다 총도 뭣도 없이 뛰어다니는 녀석이 사다리를 타며 돌진해오기까지 한다. 주황색 점빅이 양쪽에서 동시에 중간보스로 출현하여 플레이어를 막아서기도 한다. 하늘색 점빅은 플레이어 캐릭터의 공격을 받을 때마다 움직였다 멈췄다를 반복하는 것을 이용하여 움직임을 제어하는 것이 관건. 스테이지 디자인은 쌍둥이 점빅이 중간보스로 출연하는 지역을 중심으로 록맨의 푸른 구역, 워맨의 붉은 구역으로 나뉘어 있는 듯. 비행기 졸개[4]가 폭격해대는 실외 배경 속 포신들마저 제각기 반대방향을 향해 있는데, 록맨 쪽 포신들은 정상적으로 생겼지만 워맨 쪽 포신들은 대포 대신 주먹이 달려 있다.

2.2. 보스전

보스전에서의 워맨은 방패를 앞에 들고 검을 치켜든 상태에서 이동을 하는데, 워맨이 방패를 든 상태에서는 모든 공격이 무효화되고 검을 치켜들었기 때문에 점프로 뛰어넘어갈 수도 없다.[5] 워맨 앞에 잠시 가만히 있으면 워맨이 방패를 거두고 공격을 준비하는데, 이때 공격을 하면 워맨에게 피해를 줄 수 있다. 워맨이 검으로 찌를 준비를 하면 검으로 찌르고, 검을 들고 휘두를 준비를 하면 세로로 베어서 검기를 날리는데 이 검기는 점프로 워맨을 뛰어넘는 걸 방지한다. 또한 어느 정도 대미지를 입으면 세 번 펄쩍 뛰어서 검을 바닥으로 세워 찍어버리기도 하는데, 이 때도 워맨이 방패를 들지 않았기 때문에 공격을 하면 피해를 줄 수 있다. 공격의 판단은 어렵지 않으나, 필연적으로 장기전이 되니 끝까지 마음을 놓지 말 것.

하드 모드에선 워맨의 공격속도가 빨라지며 록맨(록 포스)이 서 있는 자리에 몇 번 공격을 하고 나면 알아서 점프로 되돌아가지 않으며, 대미지를 충분히 입을 때까지 앞으로 계속해서 직진해 록맨(록 포스)을 코너까지 밀어붙이는 데다 점프로 넘으려 할 때마다 속공으로 검기를 날려대기 때문에 워맨이 많이 접근해오지 않도록 가까이 가서 견제를 하는 것이 중요하고, 완전히 코너에 몰아넣어지기 전에 댐딜을 해야 몰리는 걸 피할 수 있다.
