이 곡은 꽤나 특이한 구성을 가졌는데 하드 록 사운드로 가다가 중반부에 카우벨 사운드로 가기 시작하고 후반부에 다시 하드 록 사운드로 돌아온다. 퀸이 작곡한 최초의 프로그레시브 록으로 평가 받으며, 이는 후에 Bohemian Rhapsody의 제작 에도 큰 영향을 주었다. 긴 곡의 길이(6분 26초)와 복잡한 곡 구성, 또한 곡의 화자의 비참한 결말 등 Bohemian Rhapsody와 겹치는 면이 많으며, 유튜브 댓글에도 The March of the Black Queen, Innuendo 등과 함께 엮이는 경우가 많다.프레디 머큐리가 퀸에 가입하기 전에 작곡되었는데 원제는 'Lovers'였고 이 제목으로 1969년 라이브에서도 연주되었다. 라이브[2]에서는 무려 8분 20초정도로 기타 파트를 더 늘여 연주하는데, 공연의 클라이맥스 파트에 주로 연주되곤 했다.
미국 한정으로 3분 3초(...)로 반 이상이 싹둑 잘려나간 채 싱글로 발매되었는데 당사자들은 굉장히 싫어했다고...
퀸의 초창기 노래 중 드물게 존 디콘이 원샷을 받는 부분이 있는 노래다. 노래 후반부에 베이스기타를 신나게 연주되는 부분이 바로 그 부분. 그 부분을 연주할 때면 카메라도 오래 존 디콘을 비춰주고는 한다. 존 디콘 문서에도 나와 있듯 존의 가장 유명한 베이스 리프 중 하나이다.
1974년 3월 레인보우 극장 공연 당시, 곡 중간에 레드 스페셜의 줄이 끊어져 브라이언이 당시 보유중이던 스트라토캐스터를 연주한다. 브라이언이 레드 스페셜 이외의 기타를 연주한 것이 공식 녹음된 몇 안 되는 사례 중 하나.
