원제는 Starfucker였으나 음반사 대표의 요청으로 Star Star로 변경되었다.[1] "Starfucker"는 유명인과 성관계를 목적으로 접근하는 그루피를 뜻하는 속어다.척 베리 스타일의 로큰롤 넘버로, 그루피 문화를 노골적으로 묘사한 가사가 특징이다. 특히 당시 할리우드 커플이었던 스티브 맥퀸과 알리 맥그로, 서부극의 전설 존 웨인이 가사에서 등장한다. 맥그로와 맥퀸은 당시 스캔들이 진행중이였고, 이 따끈따끈한 할리우드 스캔들을 선 넘는 가사로 넣어버린 것이다... 그러니 음반사 대표가 이건 승인을 꼭 받아야 한다고 나섰다고 하며 가사를 본 맥퀸은 이를 단순히 허락한 게 아니라 폭소를 터트리며 재미있어 했다고 한다.

[1] 곡명으로 StarFucker는 도무지 그냥 쓸 수는 없었는지 Star Star로 냈다고 한다. 그럼 Sticky Fingers의 Bitch는..?[2] 굳이 폴라로이드 사진인 것이 재밌다. 당시 일반 필름 카메라로 야한 사진을 찍으면 인화소 직원이 본다. 즉석 현상, 외부 인화 불필요라는 특성 때문에 은밀한 사진을 찍기에 적합했다는 것.[3] 둘은 1972년 영화 The Getaway 촬영 중 만났고, 당시 맥그로는 프로듀서 로버트 에반스와 결혼한 상태였다. 1973년에야 이혼이 확정되고 맥그로는 한 달만에 맥퀸이랑 결혼한다. 모두 이 곡의 녹음시기에 있던 일이다.[4] 1964년 57세에 폐암 진단을 받아 왼쪽 폐 전체와 갈비뼈 두 개를 제거한 상태였다. “죽기 전에”라는 가사가 나온 배경. 그 시대 남성성의 상징이였던 배우까지 설렵할 것이라는 뜻이다.
