독일 헤센 주 카셀현 풀다 군 에 위치하고 있는 도시이다.냉전 기에는 군사적 요충지로 3차 세계대전 발발시 소련군 의 주요 예상 공격로로 여겨졌다. 이곳을 장악하면 당시 서독의 주요 도시인 프랑크푸르트와 유럽 주둔 미군의 중심지인 람슈타인 공군기지 가 지척이며 프랑스, 베네룩스 등 서유럽 지역으로 나아갈 수 있는 매우 중요한 교통 거점이었다. 그래서 이 진격로를 두고 풀다 갭(Fulda gap)이라는 용어도 있었다. 핵폭발 뒤 최후의 아이들 에서도 주인공 꼬마의 조부모님이 사는 마을인 '쉐벤보른'의 근처 대도시로 언급되며, 제3차 세계대전 당일 핵폭격을 당한다.풀다역 이 이곳에 있다.
