본래의 세 번째 싱글 후보는 "Dance In The Dark"였으나 레이디 가가가 제일 아꼈던 곡이 "Alejandro"였기 때문에 이 곡이 먼저 싱글컷 되었다.

수녀 복장을 한 레이디 가가가 남성들에게 강간을 당하는 듯한 씬이 논란을 낳았고 이 때문에 동료 팝스타 케이티 페리가 종교로 장난치지 말라는 비판을 하기도 했다.

한국에서 "Alejandro"의 뮤직비디오가 마돈나의 "Vogue"를 오마주했다는 루머가 퍼졌었는데 이는 사실이 아니다.
