커먼 중에서 크리를 심각하게 먹은 카드의 대표적인 예. 마나 안 쓰는 주문이 얼마나 강력해질 수 있는지는 기탁시아스의 탐색침, 옛날 옛적에, Mental Misstep 등 수없이 많은 카드들을 통해 증명되어있다. 아무 비용도 없이 카드를 두장 드로우하는 것이 얼마나 강력한지는 빈티지 Growatog 덱들을 보면 알 수 있다. 심지어 대체 비용이 손에서 카드 버리는 것도 아니고 그냥 땅을 손으로 가져오는 것 뿐이라 Fastbond 같은 카드와의 연계는 가히 사기적. 과거 Psychatog덱 에서는 토그에 +6/+6 을 걸어주는 바보같은 강력함을 발휘했고, 수퍼 그로우 계열이나 정체덱에서도 대활약했다. 이미 드로우가 공짜라는 데에서부터 길을 잘못 들었다고 할 수 있지만.

2003년에 빈티지 제한 및 레거시 금지를 먹었고, 2007년에 빈티지 제한이 풀렸지만 2008년에 다시 제한을 먹었다. 2008년 빈티지의 제한카드 목록에 올랐을때 Flash, 브레인 스톰, 숙고와 같이 올라와서 각종 MTG 팬사이트들을 폭주하게 만든 경력이 있다. 2010년에 빈티지 제한이 다시 풀렸으나, 수도원 스승과의 궁합이 발견되면서 2017년 4월 24일 매직카드 역사상 유일무이하게 세 번째 빈티지 제한을 먹고 말았다. 2019년 5월에는 파우퍼에서도 밴.

참고로 이 카드가 빈티지에 어떻게 쓰이는지에 관해 책 한 권을 통째로 쓴 사람도 있다(…). 카드를 디자인한 사람은 마크 로즈워터.
