1. 개요
1964년 개봉한 디즈니 뮤지컬 영화 메리 포핀스의 사운드트랙. 리처드 셔먼과 로버트 셔먼이 작사, 작곡하였으며, 조지 뱅크스 역의 데이비드 톰린슨과 버트 역의 딕 반 다이크가 노래를 불렀다.작중에서 제인과 마이클로 촉발된 은행에서의 소동을 문제삼아 은행의 이사회에 긴급 호출된 조지 뱅크스는 그들에게 모욕을 당한 뒤 해고된다. 이에 조지 뱅크스는 이사회에 아이들과 메리 포핀스가 해주었던 말들을 전해주고는 A Spoonful of Sugar를 부르며 걸어나온다. 집에 돌아온 조지 뱅크스는 아이들의 망가진 연을 고쳐주고 모두 함께 밖으로 나와 연을 날리며 부르는 노래이다.
2005년 웨스트엔드에서 초연된 뮤지컬 메리 포핀스에 삽입되었으며 버트 역의 가빈 리, 공원 관리인 역의 케빈 윌리엄스, 제인 뱅크스 역의 샬롯 스펜서, 마이클 뱅크스 역의 해리 스톳이 노래를 불렀다. 작중에서 메리 포핀스가 뱅크스 가를 떠나고 조지의 예전 보모 앤드루가 새로운 보모로 오지만 앤드루의 잔혹한 모습에 제인과 마이클은 공원으로 도망친다. 공원에서 제인과 마이클은 버트를 만나고, 마이클은 버트의 도움을 받아 소망이었던 연을 날린다. 이 때 떠났던 메리 포핀스가 연과 함께 제인과 마이클에게 돌아오게 된다.
