1. 개요

파키스탄 카이베르파크툰크와 지역에서 일어난 극단적 이슬람 단체들의 반란. 파키스탄 탈레반, 준달라, 라슈카르에장비, 알카에다 등과 중앙아시아에서의 협력관계인 이라크 레반트 이슬람 국가 산하의 호라산 이슬람 국가, 우즈베키스탄 이슬람 운동, 튀르키스탄 이슬람당, 코카서스 이슬람 운동 등이 주요 반란 세력이다.

2004년에 파키스탄군이 와지리스탄 지역에서 알카에다 소속 테러리스트들을 색출하기 위한 작업한 것을 미국의 테러와의 전쟁에 협조한 것으로 판단하고 반란을 일으킨 게 시작이다.

2004년 3월 16일 연방 직할 부족 지역에 위치한 스핀 가르 산에 있었던 알카에다 소속 외국인 부대를 소탕하기 위해 파키스탄군이 파견되었고 치열한 전투로 이어졌다. 당시 정보부에 따르면 체첸인, 우즈베크, 타지크 위주로 이뤄져 있었다.

4월에 파키스탄 정부는 샤카이 협정을 체결하면서 평화 협정을 맺었다. 파키스탄 탈레반의 수장인 네크 무함마드 와지르가 서명했으나 6월 미국의 AGM-114 헬파이어 공격으로 인해 사망하자 협정은 곧바로 파기되었다.

3.2. 2005년

2005년 5월 4일 ISI 소속 비밀 공작국과 파키스탄군 소속 특수임무군이 협동해 마르단에서 알카에다 수뇌부 중 한 명이라고 알려진 아부 파라지 알리비 체포 작전을 시행해 성공했다. 이로 인해 소문으로만 알려진 알리비가 9.11 테러로 인해 체포된 칼리드 셰이크 모하메드의 뒤를 이어 오사마 빈 라덴과 아이만 알자와히리 다음인 3인자였다는 사실도 밝혀졌다.

6월 21일, 반누 지역에서 파키스탄군 소속 헬리콥터가 추락했다. 이에 대해 친테리크 에 탈레반 군벌이 미사일로 격추했다고 주장했으며 파키스탄군은 기계 결함이라고 발표했다. 이 사고로 인해 4명이 사망하고 3명이 구출되었다. 아프가니스탄의 탈레반 수장 시라주딘 하카니는 파키스탄군과의 전쟁이 본인들의 정책이 아니라고 선언했다.

9월 5일, 와지리스탄 합의를 체결하면서 북와지리스탄, 미란샤 등에서의 전쟁을 중단하는 평화협정을 체결했다.

10월 30일, 미군이 아프가니스탄 국경 지대의 바자우르에 체나가이 공습을 진행해 82명의 신학대학생들이 사망했다.

2017년 들어 반란은 줄어들었으나 자폭 테러 등을 통해 반란을 계속해서 이어갔다.

2017년 2월 16일, 세환에서 폭탄 테러가 발생해 90명이 사망했다.

2018년 7월 13일, 마스퉁과 반누에서 폭탄 테러가 발생해 154명이 사망하고 223명이 부상을 입었다.

2023년 1월 30일, 페샤와르 근처의 모스크에서 폭탄 테러가 발생해 101명이 사망했다.
