대한민국의 트로트 가수.
2. 활동 내역
2001년에 발표한 5집 '강진'의 타이틀 곡인 땡벌로 유명하며, 2006년 유하 감독, 조인성 주연의 액션영화 "비열한 거리"의 삽입곡으로 등장해 큰 인기를 얻게 되었다.사실 땡벌은 리메이크곡으로, 원곡은 나훈아가 작사/작곡하고 직접 부른 노래다. 이 곡은 2007년 9월 21일에 뮤직뱅크 시청자 선호도 1위(현재 K-차트 1위)를 차지하기도 했다. 뮤직뱅크에서 2024년 5월 4일 방송에서 이찬원이 '하늘 여행'으로 1위에 오르기까지 17년 동안 유일한 트로트 1위 곡이었으며, 쇼! 음악중심 2021년 3월 20일 방송에서 임영웅이 '별빛 같은 나의 사랑아'로 1위를 차지할 때까지 14년 동안 유일한 지상파 음악방송 트로트 1위 곡이었다.
사실은 1986년에 발표한 "이별의 신호등"으로 데뷔해 활동을 시작한 중견 트로트 가수로, 본격적으로 뜨게 되는 시기는 1994년이다. 이 때 발표한 "남자는 영웅"과 "삼각관계"(김병걸 작사, 이호섭 작곡)[5]가 히트하여 강진은 무명 생활을 청산하고 본격적으로 유명 가수가 된다. 삼각관계는 이후도 강진이 직접 부르는 곡이다.
3. 여담
- 땡벌 외에도 "화장을 지우는 여자", "삼각관계" 등 히트곡들이 꽤 많으며 "붓"도 영탁, 양지은 등이 불렀다.
- 최근에는 "공짜"라는 신곡도 발표했다.
- 2019년 초 발매했던 "막걸리 한잔"이라는 노래를 2020년 초 내일은 미스터트롯에서 영탁이 불러 선풍적인 인기를 끌고 있다. 덕분에 이 곡은 땡벌 다음으로 강진의 메가히트곡이 되었다. 이를 계기로 영탁과 강진은 TBS 최일구의 허리케인 라디오 2020년 3월 28일 방송에 동석해서 이 노래를 연이어 부르기도 했으며, 강진은 영탁덕분에 노래를 크게 알리게 되어 고맙다며 10만원을 용돈으로 줬다.

이후에도 둘이 같이 나오는 방송에서는 서로의 노래를 반대로 불러주는 등[8] 선후배 관계를 돈독히 하는 모습이 보인다.
- 회덮밥이 본인의 메인 음식 메뉴인 듯 하다. 당시 그 식당 주인의 딸 또한 강진이 자신의 식당에 새벽에 늘 와서 먹는 음식이 회덮밥이라고...
- 올해 [age(1955-01-01)]세의 나이가 무색할 만큼 혈관 나이가 무려 20대일 정도로 매우 건강하다. 당시 강진을 진찰한 의사도 이런 경우는 처음 본다 하며 경악을 금치 못했는데, 그 이유는 삼시세끼 채소나 생선 등 해물 위주의 식단으로 먹고[9] 운동을 꾸준히 하기 때문이다. 이로 인해 아들뻘 후배 가수인 신유와 함께 중국 요리(유린기, 멘보샤)를 먹을 때에도 "빵이 기름지고, 두 개 먹기에는 혈관에 미안하다."라고 하며 멘보샤의 한 쪽을 떼어내고 먹을 정도며, 피자를 먹을 때에도 토핑으로 올려진 새우만 먹고, 삼겹살을 먹을 때에도 비계나 탄 부위를 잘라내고 먹고, 햄 등의 가공식품도 아주 소량만 먹을 정도로 식단 관리에 매우 깐깐하다.
- 강진이 7살 때[10]인 1962년에 아버지가 돌아가셨는데, 그로 인해 어머니는 5남매를 홀로 키우시게 되었고, 당시에 다른 친구들은 아버지의 손을 잡고 어딘가 가는 모습을 보고 항상 외로움을 느꼈는데[11], <막걸리 한 잔> 을 부를 때 마치 자신의 얘기를 하는 것처럼 불렀다고 한다.[12]

- 2024년 6월 1일 MBC 놀면 뭐하니?에 출연해서 토크를 하는데 항시 등을 쭉 펴는 꼿꼿한 바른 자세를 유지하는 모습을 보여서[13] 정말로 60대 후반이 맞는지 모르겠다며 정말 자기관리의 끝판왕 같다는 평가를 받았다.
- 조용필, 이홍렬과 함께 허참의 별세 이전 간암 투병 소식에 대해 알고 있던 사람 중 한 명이다. 단, 강진은 예외로 별세하기 몇 주 전에 만났을 당시 안색이 좋지 않고 평소에 비해 체중이 많이 줄어들었다는 등의 전조증상을 보긴 했으나 눈치채지는 못한 채 걱정이 앞섰었다.[14]
- 배우 이덕화와 닮았다. 여담으로 5선 나경원 국민의힘 의원 조부와 동향인 영암군 사람이며 동작구 구민으로써 선거사무소 개소식에 모습을 비추며 개인적 인연이 있었기에 응원차 방문하였다고 조심스럽게 밝혀 눈길을 끌었다. # 선거운동 과정에서 나경원 의원과 함께 유세차에 올라 지지를 호소하고 막걸리 한잔 선거송을 직접 불러주는 등 나경원 당선의 큰 역할을 했다.
